About
In The Art of Doing Science and Engineering, Richard Hamming emphasized the importance of having a vision for your professional future. According to him, the difference between those who achieve great things and those who don't often comes down to whether they have a vision. It doesn’t matter if the vision is entirely accurate; what matters is having one, because going somewhere is better than drifting.
We formed Developer Collective with this idea in mind: to fasilitate the formation of a common vision of where we are heading, and to help us get there. We have a shared philosophy of building software — one that values humanity, inclusivity, and sustainability.
We want to leave the industry better than we found it. To run less after shiny new things, and to focus on building things that have meaningful outcomes.
Too often we forget how rewarding it is to be building something new. It allows you to be creative while producing something of value for people to use in their work or personal lives. There should be more of that excitement in software industry.
